Female Fitness
We deliver a female-only fitness project, led by qualified female instructors. The project comprises a mixture of HIIT, boxercise and circuit-based workouts and is supplemented by interactive, evidence-based nutrition workshops led by City Dietitians.
The content of these workshops includes nutrition in the workplace, nutrition during periods, nutrition for optimal athletic performance and nutrition during times of stress.
U23s Football
Our under 23s session uses football and social education to enable young men from BAME backgrounds to overcome social isolation, gang activity and inactivity. The session also provides a platform where the Police and BAME young adults engage in positive discussions, particularly crucial given the current Black Lives Matter Movement.
Such dialogue equips our beneficiaries with the confidence to resolve conflicting viewpoints in a positive manner and facilitates the development of mutual trust and empathy between the Police and young adults.
Mentoring
Our participants have the option of joining our award-winning mentoring programme. Participants are assigned a mentor, from the Salaam Peace team and wider network, based on matching interests, personalities and demography.
Our mentoring programme is tailored around the needs and wants of our mentees, consisting of informal conversation, formal meetings, insight days and larger interactive workshops.
We provide mentees with positive, relatable role models from the local community; aiming to raise aspirations and self-esteem.
Employment
Participants that demonstrate a positive attitude, have a thirst for learning and want to improve the lives of those around them, have the opportunity of joining our award-winning community champions pathway.
This pathway begins with 4-weeks of project participation and is followed by 6-weeks of volunteering with us. If all goes well, then paid employment opportunities with Salaam Peace and our partner networks are offered.
For more information, see our community champions pathway page.
