U23s Football
Our under 23s football sessions uses football and social education to enable young men from BAME backgrounds to overcome social isolation, gang activity and inactivity. The session also provides a shared, safe space for young men to talk and develop positive relationships with others.
Such dialogue equips our beneficiaries with the confidence to resolve conflicting viewpoints in a positive manner and facilitates the development of mutual trust and empathy between the Police and young adults.

Participants that demonstrate a positive attitude, have a thirst for learning and want to improve the lives of those around them, have the opportunity of joining our award-winning community champions pathway.
This pathway begins with 4-weeks of project participation and is followed by 6-weeks of volunteering with us. If all goes well, then paid employment opportunities with Salaam Peace and our partner networks are offered.

I am thankful to what Salaam Peace has done for me during most of my years at college and university, as they offered me training and responsibilities to rapidly develop my key skills, qualities and experience which now made me stand out more compared to others in my field of work and successfully plan and deliver sessions for primary school ages to enjoy.
As a football coach at Salaam Peace, I worked to create a positive and inclusive environment for the young players, teaching them not just the skills of the game but also the values of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship. I organized regular training sessions, worked on developing game strategies, and fostered a sense of camaraderie among the young team members. My goal was to instill discipline, leadership, enjoyment and a sense of purpose in each young player’s life. Now, as a police officer in the response unit, I respond to emergency calls, including incidents of theft, domestic disputes, accidents, burglaries, robberies, assaults and other forms of violence. I work to maintain public safety by patrolling designated areas, conducting investigations, and providing assistance to those in need. My duties also involve enforcing laws, diffusing volatile situations, and ensuring that the community feels secure. It’s a role that requires quick thinking, empathy, and a commitment to upholding the law and serving the public.
